A signature exhibit at the 2012 MATS show was Navistar’s SUPER TRUCK, a five-year project that promised to improve fuel freight efficiency by 50%. Begun in 2010 with endorsement from the U.S. Department of Energy, the SUPER TRUCK project hopes to achieve its goal through aerodynamic design, hybrid engine, and overall truck weight reduction.
Hadley is one of 13 major suppliers to the project; our electronic height control valve (nicknamed the Green Valve) is a core enabler of the SUPER TRUCK suspension system, in which the trailer raises and lowers itself automatically to produce the most fuel-efficient road performance.
“Our breakthrough technology on the Green Valve is a perfect match for such an advanced truck design,” said Tom Cox, Hadley Senior Account Manager with responsibility for Navistar. “It provides a level of precise control that makes possible the types of dramatic savings our customers are looking to achieve.”
“We are pleased to be a part of this industry-leading initiative,” said Bob Dubsky, President of Hadley. “Every partner involved in this project has a long-standing reputation for innovation and expertise.”
While commercial availability of the SUPER TRUCK may be years away, the arrival of the Hadley Green Valve is only a short while away! Updates on availability can be found in this space.
