Hadley continues to earn their reputation for innovative technologies with exhibit presence at the APTA EXPO, booth #4267, in Houston this week.  They will demonstrate product solutions that deliver enhanced transit experiences for passengers and economic benefits to transit authorities.

APTA attendees had an opportunity to see the working prototype of Hadley’s Digital Signage System. The dynamic information and advertising was displayed on monitors installed inside a transit bus model.

Hadley’s Digital Signage System uses a cutting edge software platform allowing transit authorities and their advertising partners to publish and plan content and advertising in a very effective time saving manner.  The technology triggering localized information is called GeoFence Scheduling. The software receives a “trigger” signal that allows for location based route information.

Public Transit Authority, The Rapid, based in and serving Grand Rapids, Michigan is partnering with Hadley to serve as a test market in introducing the benefits of digital signage to passengers. As a pilot program, Hadley installed a system on route 6 that rides passengers through downtown, crossing several vibrant communities with a variety of local businesses that can benefit from advertising with the GeoFenced option.

“Digital Signage enhances passenger convenience with customizable content providing real time information, weather updates and traffic conditions as well as dining, entertainment and shopping options at the next stop and along the route”, said Giorgio Verduzio, Director of Transit for Hadley.

To provide attendees an opportunity to understand the full benefits of the system to both passengers and transit authorities, it was presented in an Innovations Learning Zone session at APTA, October 14, 2:15 – 2:45 at Booth #1047 on Level 1 of the EXPO.

The newest additions to Hadley’s extensive line of Interior Systems are called the Y+ and X-treme.  Along with the SWAN and WAVE, they provide the sleekest luggage rack configurations available.  The Y+ is for smaller vehicles, like Sprinters, with seating in rows of three.  The X-treme is for large vehicles, like coaches, which can accommodate more luggage.

Hadley’s designs offer unlimited modularity with optional amenities that can be included during installation or added at any point during the life of the system. They appeal to transit authorities with reduced maintenance features including sealed panel seams preventing air leaks, hidden fasteners with a rattle-free design, dust-free light channels that are separate from the A/C flow, and easy access to all mechanical elements behind removable panels.

Hadley’s Interior Systems were also featured at the Expo on multiple bus manufacturers, including Turtle Top, Ameritrans, and Tiffany. This multiple showcase experience gave attendees several opportunities to see and better understand the flexibility of Hadley’s designs.

Hadley’s transit display included the newest mirror configurations which we expected to have strong appeal to transit authorities.  These include a motorized mirror control arm controlled by Hadley’s new mirror control switch.  The design eliminates the need for the operator to get out of the bus to fold the mirror in for a bus wash or other applications where the mirror might be in harm’s way.  A simple press of a button will narrow the profile of the bus and fold the mirror tight.

The new mirror controls feature a low profile, in-dash design, LED indicator lights and the ability to control up to 4 panes of mirror glass with one sleek control pad.

Also on display at the show were options to upgrade Hadley mirrors with Object Detection, providing another level of safety and security by eliminating blind spot issues.  The base system includes sensors and audible or visual indicators for detection.  The full system also includes cameras for increased visibility alertness.  These features can be integrated into the mirrors or stand alone.

Completing the exhibit was Hadley’s durable, standard transit mirror, designed to save costly damage with a breakaway arm. The mounting configuration folds in during a tight squeeze or if the mirror is accidently hit. Auto return conveniently brings it right back to the proper driving position.
